The functionality is meant to make it easier to use WhatsApp for people who run or are part of multiple groups. Users no longer need to remember the names of different groups as they can search for groups using the names of contacts who are members of those groups.

According to feature tracker WABetaInfo, this feature will work with WhatsApp Desktop version 2.2245.9 and later versions. WABetaInfo was the source of the initial report that the feature was being made available to users.

WhatsApp has launched a feature that allows users to search for groups by contact name.

San Francisco: The desktop version of WhatsApp, which is owned by Meta, has begun to roll out a new feature that allows users to search groups by inputting a contact name.

According to WABetaInfo, several users reported seeing the feature after installing the most recent WhatsApp Desktop version.

By typing a contact’s name into the search field, users can now see a list of all the recent groups they have in common with that contact.

Users who have joined numerous groups on the site and have forgotten the name of a group they have in common with a particular contact may find it useful.

According to the article, it will be made available to more people over the next few days.

In a previous WhatsApp Desktop beta release, the messaging service was apparently working on a group chat mute shortcut.

Users can turn off alerts for messages received in groups by using the mute shortcut, which is visible at the top of group conversations.

In the meantime, Mark Zuckerberg, the founder and CEO of Meta, had announced earlier this month that the business is integrating digital avatars to the messaging platform.
