Hyundai finally introduced the Ioniq 5 crossover at Auto Expo 2023, with the first 500 buyers receiving it for an introductory price of Rs 44.95 lakh (ex-showroom). This makes it Rs 16 lakh less expensive than the Kia EV6, its cousin model. After the Kona EV, which has been available for purchase in India since 2019, the Ioniq 5 is Hyundai’s second electric vehicle for the country. For Rs 1 lakh, reservations for the crossover are already being taken.

Hyundai Ioniq 5: Exterior Design Details
The 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show served as the world premiere for the Ioniq 5 as the 45 EV concept, and the final production model heavily borrows from the concept’s retro-futuristic design language.

Sharp lines, flat surfaces, and an SUV-like stance are all part of the Ioniq 5’s retro design, which also includes heavily raked windscreens. The 20-inch aero-optimized wheels have a turbine-like design, and the headlights and taillights have a distinctive pixelated appearance. Ioniq 5 models from Hyundai are available in Gravity Gold Matte, Optic White, and Midnight Black Pearl.
Hyundai Ioniq 5: Equipment and Interior
The minimalistic interior of the Ioniq 5 features a flat floor, adjustable seats, and a mobile centre console. Hyundai’s upholstery features eco-friendly leather and materials made from recycled plastic.
The Ioniq 5 is equipped with an ADAS system, a heads-up display with augmented reality features, and two 12.3-inch touchscreens for the instrument cluster and touchscreen. Additionally, it has a 3.6kW vehicle-to-load function that powers up electrical appliances like laptops and smartphones. Two ports are available for using this function: one is outside the vehicle, close to the charging port, and the other is under the back seats.

A 72.6kWh battery powers the Ioniq 5, giving it an ARAI-certified range of 631 kilometres on a single charge. The Ioniq 5 only comes with rear-wheel drive, and its electric motor generates 217 horsepower and 350 Nm of torque. The Ioniq 5 can also support ultra-rapid 800V charging, which takes just 18 minutes to charge the battery from 10 percent to 80 percent.
Cheaper than The Kia EV6 is The Hyundai Ioniq 5
In contrast to its cousin, the Kia EV6, which is a full import, the Ioniq 5 is built in India. Due to the difference in customs duty between a completely built-up unit (CBU) and a completely knocked down (CKD) vehicle, it is less expensive than the EV6 (CKD).
