The Indian Navy is celebrating its 51st Indian Navy Day, today as the guardians of our maritime borders and trade routes. The President of India and other dignitaries from the armed forces and the government will attend an “Operational Demonstration” marking the occasion at RK Beach in Visakhapatnam.
Ships, submarines, aircraft, and Special Forces from the Indian Navy’s Eastern, Western, and Southern Naval Commands will participate in the Navy Day celebrations at Visakhapatnam. During the Operational Demonstration, they would demonstrate the capability and adaptability of the Indian Navy. The Navy Day celebration will come to a close with a ceremony at dusk and illumination by ships in port.
What is Indian Navy Day really about?
Our armed forces’ maritime branch was not raised on December 4, the day Navy Day is observed. In honor of the launch and success of “Operation Trident” against Pakistan during the Indo-Pak War in 1971, today (December 4) is marked as Indian Navy Day.
