Date of Launch of Xiaomi 13 Ultra Leaked; Launch May Not Occur at MWC 2023

In December 2022, Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi introduced the Xiaomi 13 smartphone series for its domestic market. The company is anticipated to unveil its new lineup of smartphones for the global market at the Mobile World Congress event in Barcelona in February 2023. The Xiaomi 13 series currently available in China consists of two devices: the Xiaomi 13 and the Xiaomi 13 Pro. Recent rumours suggest that the company may soon introduce a third model — the Xiaomi 13 Ultra.

Earlier, Xiaomi’s CEO Lei Jun confirmed that the Xiaomi 13 Ultra will be the company’s primary flagship device for both the Chinese and international markets. This statement sparked numerous rumours that the Xiaomi 13 Ultra variant may be introduced at the upcoming MWC event. However, according to a recent report, Xiaomi may introduce the 13 Ultra smartphone at a later date.

According to a report by Notebookcheck.net, a source known as Digital Chat Station claims that both the Oppo Find X6 and Honor Magic5 series will be released shortly after the Chinese New Year on January 22. According to the report, these two smartphones may debut between the middle and end of February. According to the report, the Xiaomi 13 Ultra will be released in China at a later date (estimated to be by the end of March or the beginning of April).

The Xiaomi 13 Ultra is therefore unlikely to be unveiled at MWC. However, the premium Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro smartphones will be released globally at the event. There is no information regarding when the Ultra variant will be introduced to the global market.

The Xiaomi 13 Ultra will likely be powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset with up to 16GB of LPDDR5x RAM and 500GB/1TB of UFS 4.0 storage space. The Xiaomi 13 Ultra variant will likely feature a quad-rear camera setup that will include a 1-inch Sony IMX989 50MP primary camera.

All four camera units are anticipated to feature PDAF autofocus. Additionally, the primary camera unit may support gimbal optimization. No additional information about the forthcoming Xiaomi smartphone is currently available.
