The all-new, second-generation New Honda WRV has been unveiled, and it will initially be available in Indonesia. Unlike its forerunner, the new generation WR-V is more of an SUV than a cross-hatchback, and it features a distinctive new design.
New Honda WRV: Styling cues
There is a striking visual similarity between the Honda Concept RS SUV and the new WR-V, which is a manufacturing version of the concept vehicle. In terms of aesthetics, the new WR-V is very similar to the larger Honda SUVs available in other countries, such as the HR-V and the CR-V.
The new WR-V takes cues from coupe SUVs in its appearance, most notably in its sloping roofline and sharply angled rear hatch. The glasshouse is spacious, and its front and back walls slant dramatically (for an SUV). Large alloy wheels are housed in their wheel arches, and it has a pronounced shoulder line and thick body cladding on the lower portion of the doors (16-inch or 17-inch, depending on variant).
The SUV’s wraparound headlights are sleek and angular, and the grille blends in nicely with the straightforward design of the bumper’s wide air dam.
The new WR-V SUV features a sloped rear tailgate and a prominent C-pillar. It sports a thick bumper that conceals the licence plate holder and a fake skid plate, as well as thin, horizontally oriented LED taillights.
The Honda WR-V is available in two different appearance packages: the WR-V E, which features more subdued design cues and 16-inch alloy wheels, and the WR-V RS, which features 17-inch alloy wheels, red accents, a redesigned grille, and all-black interiors, among other special features. Also, the exteriors will be painted in two colours.
The higher trim levels of the WR-V have a key that can be used to remotely start the vehicle’s engine and air conditioning system in addition to its analogue dials and 4.2-inch MID.
New Honda WRV: Dimensions
The WR-V is built on the same chassis as the previous-generation City and the most recent Amaze offered in India. The new WR-V is larger in every dimension compared to its predecessor: 4,060 mm in length, 1,608 mm in height, and 1,780 mm in width. A higher 220 mm of clearance from the ground is another improvement. The cargo capacity of the new WR-V is 380 litres.
Six airbags and Honda’s advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) technology, Honda Sensing, which includes lane keeping assist, automated emergency braking, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, and auto high beam assist, have been added to the new WR-V SUV from Honda.
New Honda WRV: Interior
The Honda WR-interior V’s design is reminiscent of other vehicles in the same class. The WR-inside V’s are nearly identical to those of the Amaze sedan sold in India. Everything inside appears to be identical to that seen in the Amaze, including the steering wheel, buttons, and even the seats.

New Honda WRV: Powertrain details
The 1.5-litre gasoline engine produces 121 horsepower and 145 Newton metres of torque. A five-speed manual or continuously variable transmission (CVT) is responsible for transmission duties. In India, this engine is standard equipment on the Honda City sedan.
New Honda WRV: Will it come to India?
To compete with the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, and Toyota Hyryder in the Indian market, Honda is reportedly developing a brand-new SUV. The current WR-V is based on the older, fourth-generation City architecture; however, the upcoming SUV will ride on the newer, fifth-generation City platform and will be about 4.2 metres in length.
The new WR-V is reportedly “under research” for the Indian market and might enter the market after the release of Honda’s Creta rival, which is scheduled to arrive in Indian showrooms just before the festive season in 2023.
